Olga Diaz Reacts to Banning Gun Sales at Del Mar Fairgrounds

In response to Governor Newsom’s signing of AB 893, a bill authored by Todd Gloria (D – San Diego) banning gun sales events at Del Mar Fairgrounds as of January 2021, BOS District 3 Candidate and Escondido City Councilmember Olga Diaz had this to say:

“I’d like to thank Asm. Todd Gloria, Never Again CA, the cities of Del Mar, Encinitas, and Solana Beach, and the governor for their commitment to curbing gun violence in our region.

Public spaces belong to the community, and the cities of Del Mar and nearby Encinitas and Solana Beach have clearly voiced their support for ending gun shows at the public, state-owned Del Mar Fairgrounds.

AB 893 is a reasonable and appropriate response to communities’ concerns about the increasing availability of guns and the state’s involvement in and financial benefit from gun shows. Responsible gun buyers have many other places to legally and safely purchase firearms. This bill is a common-sense compromise that reflects local community priorities.”
